Chris DeJong

Chris, along with John Lonergan, is co-founder of Big Blue Swim School. Chris spent most of his youth swimming in the waves of Lake Michigan. His father, a sailor and boat broker, and his mother, a former swim instructor, instilled a life-long appreciation for the water. Chris competed for the U.S. National Swim Team from 2003 to 2009. Chris is a former American-record holder and 4-time U.S. National Champion. At the University of Michigan – before graduating with an english degree – Chris trained with numerous Olympians and world record holders. Upon graduation, Chris went on to train professionally and eventually found himself helping coach the wolverines when head coach Mike Bottom, asked Chris to serve as Head Video Analyst for stroke improvement. Chris has since shared his knowledge and love for the sport through hundreds of lessons with swimmers of all ages and abilities.
