Benefits of Multiple Weekly Swim Lessons

We know when you swim with Big Blue your child will make more progress than anywhere else. We also know if you add a second weekly swim lesson, your child will make progress even faster.

Besides making faster progress, here are some other reasons to add another weekly swim lesson.

Muscle Memory: When you watch your child's lessons you may notice they repeat skills throughout their lesson. Developing a new skill takes a lot of work, and the repition ensures that the foundations stay strong and teachers can correct any minor issues. Repetition also helps establish a routine, which is important in the learning process. A regular routine will make learning new skills less stressful for children.

Exercise: It is recommended by the AAP that kids 6 and older get at least an hour of physical activity a day. Physical and cognitive development go hand-in-hand, so when your kids are having fun swimming, their brains develop, allowing for new types of activity. Kids get to be active, have fun and it's good for their brain- huge parenting win!

Social Development: Our lessons help provide a fun, structured learning environment while children learn to share, take turns and follow instructions. With our small class sizes they also get more interaction with their teacher, which means they are rewarded and praised for every small accomplishment made in the water. You will see you child's confidence increase with each lesson.

Keep the Momentum: Adding a secondly weekly lesson helps your swimmer use what they learned in their previous lesson propel them into their next lesson. This way what they have learned doesn't drift too far from memory. Marissa Hammond, GM of our Wilmette location, explains "Feedback is crucial for swimmers so they are practicing proper techniques. Getting extra feedback from a second lesson, helps keep that momentum going from the previous lesson and you will see progress much faster."
