Featured Family- The Lange's
The Lange family has been attending the Hoffman Estates Big Blue location since it first opened in the Fall of 2017. Being early adopters, they have been able to experience the development of the facility as well as staff.
From day one, we have been treated like family. There is always someone at the front desk with a welcoming smile that knows our children’s names. Every time someone arrives, they greet them and make sure they are comfortable if they are new to the facility. If you cannot schedule lessons or make up lessons on the extremely easy to use website, you can always talk to the front desk. They are knowledgeable and willing to assist. Speaking of make up lessons, that is one great perk of working with Big Blue. If you cannot make a scheduled lesson you have the ability to use a free makeup lesson. It provides peace of mind knowing that if there is a conflict in schedule you will not lose out on your investment.
The facility and instructors are top notch. It is clean and they keep the temperature perfect, especially when children are leaving the pool on cold winter nights. We have had the same instructor for our daughter since day one. It has been extremely comforting to know that Big Blue will make sure to provide you with as many dates as possible in which our daughter can work with her instructor. They have formed a special relationship and this truly is allowing our daughter to flourish. The instructors build a level of trust and this allows the students to feel comfortable to step out of their comfort zone.
Just recently, our daughter was promoted to Bold Blue 2. She has been working hard with her instructor and was able to master all the skills to move up in the program. Big Blue does a fantastic job of making sure parents understand what it takes for their child to keep improving. They come out of the pool area and sit down with you and have a legitimate conversation. They tell you what your child is doing well with and what they need to work on. It is very satisfying to be kept in the loop. On top of this, their website allows you to track your child and really break down what skills they need to work on to progress to the next level of instruction. Instead of just going through the same routine every lesson, they identify what the student needs to work on and help them master that skill. That is how education should work and Big Blue has a system that works.
For example, our son was in the baby program and was moving very quickly through the progressions as opposed to some other students in the class. Instead of just having us get in the pool and repeat what he could already do, Big Blue added another instructor and pulled a few students to the side to work on some new skills. They truly tailor the experience for your child.
Overall, we have been attending Big Blue for over a year with our children. They have progressed from being afraid of the water to working on various strokes and breathing techniques. As a parent you want your child to be comfortable in water in any situation. Big Blue has been able to do this, while making the experience extremely easy and enjoyable.
A grandparent’s perspective
As a grandparent it is a pleasure to observe my grandchildren’s swim lessons at Big Blue in Hoffman Estates. I am amazed at the progress they have made under the tutelage of very caring and knowledgeable instructors. They feel comfortable and thoroughly enjoy their lessons. This has made it possible for them to progress at a very good pace. Seeing them cared for by the attentive staff warms a grandparent’s heart.
Whenever I enter the building I am greeted in a friendly manner by the staff. The facility is very clean and has some great activities available for siblings while they are waiting. I have observed the staff always monitoring progress and conveying their observations to the parents in a courteous and friendly manner.
