Meet Andres Espinoza of Big Blue Dulles

Welcome to October's edition of "Meet the Staff" at Big Blue! This month, we are thrilled to introduce you to Andres, the dedicated and friendly Assistant Manager of our Dulles location. Andres is passionate about creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment for all our swimmers, and he brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team. Learn more about him below!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Andres, but close friends call me Dre. I like working out and watching sports, especially baseball. I enjoy sports and outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. I was born in Honduras and move to the US when I was a kid.

How long have you been a member of the Big Blue Swim School team?

I have been working at Big Blue for over two and half years.

What is your background?

I was born in Honduras and moved to New York City when I was a kid. My family is from Queens, and I moved down to Virginia 3 years ago. My family is half Honduran and half Dominican.

What does your job entail?

My job entails fun tasks like coaching, leading and sales. We work on keeping our staff happy so we can perform to Big Blue's standards while being part of a fun growth path. We make sure that by doing this, we provide the best experience for our community through swimming lessons. We work on facilitating our staff so we can then provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable place and service for children.

What is your favorite part about working at Big Blue?

My favorite part about working at Big Blue are the opportunities to connect with the kids and create a big impact in their lives.

Do you have a favorite moment that you’ve been a part of during your time at Big Blue?

My favorite moments are always the results - from a Bright 1 student learning how to blow bubbles all the way to a Big 2 student making it to their community swim team. Or being able to see employees grow from a Swim Associate into an Assistant Manager and then impact others in the same way.

What is your favorite level to teach?

My favorite levels to teach are Big 2 and Bright 1.

What kind of things do you like to do outside of work?

I like to go fishing and play sports. I love flying, even if it's just an hour-long flight from New York to Virginia! I also love to go out and just enjoy nature with family and friends.

How would your team describe you?

As a passionate team member.
