Meet Tami Garcia of Big Blue Allen

We're over halfway through July, so it's time to introduce the Staff Member of the Month: Tami Garcia! Tami is the General Manager at Big Blue Allen in Texas. We hope you enjoy learning about her as much as her team loves working with her!

How long have you been a member of the Big Blue Swim School team?

This December will be 3 years with BBSS Allen.

Tell us about your background!

I spent over 20 years in retail management and made a career switch to aquatics in 2015.

What does your job entail?

I oversee all aspects of running the business. I run or assist with hiring, training, scheduling, facility management and most important, I set the tone for our staff culture as well as our family culture.

What is your favorite part about working at Big Blue?

I love when I get to meet families and become part of their weekly routine.

Do you have a favorite moment that you’ve been a part of during your time at Big Blue?

I have been apart of the advancement of many different associates during my time here at Big Blue and that's the best part of my job.

What is your favorite level to teach/observe?

My favorite level is Brights. It's amazing to watch their skill level grow week by week.

What kind of things do you like to do outside of work?

Family is very important to me, so we have weekly get-togethers on the weekends with all of my children and grandchildren. We eat, laugh and simply catch up!

How would your team describe you?

I believe they would say I am encouraging and nurturing. I'm tough but fair and I always look for opportunities to challenge them for growth.
