Meet Big Blue Swim School West Orange
Big Blue Swim School is coming to West Orange, NJ! Opening in 2027 in the Essex Green Shopping Center, we offer swim lessons for children ages 3 months to 12 years across Essex County and the surrounding areas. Lessons start at 30 minutes and student-to-instructor ratios are as low as 3:1.
Our swim lessons build water safety, confidence, and real swim skills – with the kind of progress families notice in everyday life, from bath time to big splashes at the beach. At Big Blue, we believe confidence comes first, so our expertly-trained, caring instructors start by building your swimmer's comfort in the water, then guide them through a progress-based curriculum where skills are learned at each child's own pace.
Big Blue swim lessons happen in small groups, so your swimmer gets individualized attention while learning alongside their peers. Your child progresses through age and skill appropriate levels that will help them outside of the pool, and eventually will learn all four competitive swim strokes.
As a parent, you'll appreciate our clean, state-of-the-art heated indoor pool and our flexible scheduling platform. We make it easy for busy families to book all your children's swim lessons on the same day and time, even at different skill levels and ages. You can manage everything, including progress tracking, through our user-friendly, Big Blue Swim School app.

Big Blue Swim School in West Orange, NJ is conveniently located in the Essex Green Shopping Center on Prospect Ave, just off I-280, and is an easy drive for families from nearby communities including Montclair, South Orange, Livingston, Irvington, Verona, Roseland, Essex Fells, West Caldwell, Kearney, and Newark.
Before or after your swim lesson, you can grab your groceries at the ShopRite just steps away in the same plaza, or walk over for coffee and a bite at Panera Bread, Five Guys, Starbucks, or Bubbakoo’s Burritos, Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood, Primos Hoagies, TGI Friday’s or Kinya Ramen .
