What to Expect at Your Big Blue Free Trial Swim Lesson
We can’t wait to welcome you at Big Blue Swim School and make a BIG first impression! If you’re wondering what to expect during your child’s free 30-minute trial, read through our helpful guide, so you’ll be ready to get your feet wet and experience the excitement in every lesson.
What to Bring:
- Swimsuit
- Towel
- Goggles
- Swim cap, if your child has long hair
- Comfy clothes and healthy snack for after lessons
- Water bottle
What to Bring for a Baby Swim Lesson:
If your child is attending a baby free trial swim lesson, you’ll be joining them in the water, so don’t forget a swimsuit and towel for yourself. You’ll want a pair of sandals or water shoes to walk on the pool deck, too. Your baby won’t need goggles or a swim cap to go in the water, but make sure you grab both a reusable swim diaper and a disposable swim diaper to go with their swimsuit.
All swimmers, who are not potty trained, will also need a reusable swim diaper over a disposable swim diaper. If you’re not sure how to find the best swim diaper for your little one, we have some great tips here!

When You Arrive
As you enter our doors at Big Blue, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly staff members at the front desk. They can help answer any questions you might have and direct you to the rest of our spotless facility.
We have plenty of spacious changing rooms for before and after your lesson, so you’ll never be stuck in line waiting for an available room. To store your belongings, kid-height cubbies are placed nearby.
Check-in at the pool door starts 10 minutes before your scheduled trial begins, so please arrive a little early. To save time, some families head into Big Blue with their kids already changed into bathing suits.
During Your Free Trial
Caregivers not joining their children in the pool for lessons still need to stay for the whole duration. Don’t worry, our best seats in the house, AKA our comfortable viewing area in the lobby, offer free WIFI!
You will see managers and staff with iPads around the pool deck monitoring progress at every swimming lesson. Your child’s progress can be tracked in the Parent Portal or Big Blue mobile app, so you’ll always know the skills they are learning in each level.
Feel free to sit, back, relax, and watch your child grow their confidence and swim skills with our experienced, dedicated instructors. We keep our class sizes small, so your swimmer can receive the up-close and personal attention they deserve.
After Your Free Trial
For a post-lesson rinse, we have showers kids actually want to take at the end of the pool area. After, you can walk over to the changing rooms and switch into some comfy clothes. We even have hair dryers (a favorite among many kiddos) by the changing rooms to fully dry off before the drive home. If your child still has some energy to burn, our lobby is super kid friendly as well, where you might find some games and coloring sheets.
